The Dark Side of The Avatar has been a... difficult exibition.
Difficult for the main theme, often misunderstood or unfairly judged.
It's a theme that requires courage, introspection, being sincere with yourself.
Being able to admit (to yourself or whoever) you've got a side that's not exactely politically correct, that's not an innocent victim of smething, but if you let it go, it would be the executioner.
Once, many people used to showoff their "terrible, evil" side. It was a sort of fashionable thing. We would never do an exibition like this one in times where being "evil" is glamourous.
It's much more intresting when it's sincere, and not done just for the sake of appearing "dangerous" at all costs. We put every of these "inner monsters", small pieces of every one of us, side by side.
Side by side in the same location, so you can realize they're nothing so special and scary.
So you can realize they've been accepted and shown, not just to say "lookie!!! Booo!" but to admit all together "yeah, we're not angels, nobody is, neither I am."
A long debate, public and private, a communication gap that failed to communicate "Dark Side" in a Star Wars way so it's often confused with "hidden".
A newborn project, "Hidden Side of the Avatar" in order to expose the pieces we had to discard 'cause they don't match the main theme, but are wonderful, sincere, special.
Many partecipants said "I don't have a dark side the way you want. Or maybe I didn't realize yet I do.".
Some other people said they're not yet able to express it.
We don't judge, on the contrary...
The exibition's goal is to show something nobody has the right to judge.
When we were young, someone told us "this is bad, don't do it."
Now we're grown ups, and we can tell it ourselves.

The Dark Side of The Avatar e' stata una mostra... difficile.
Difficile in quanto il tema richiesto e' stato piu' volte frainteso o ingiustamente banalizzato.
E' un tema che richiede coraggio, introspezione, sincerita' con se stessi.
Capacita' di ammettere a se stessi e agli altri di avere un lato che non e' esattamente politically correct, che non e' vittima di niente, ma se lasciato sciolto, sarebbe carnefice.
Un tempo, andava di moda. Dimostrarsi cattivi, dimostrarsi temibili. Motivo per cui una cosa del genere in un momento in cui forse sarebbe stata "di tendenza", non e' stata organizzata.
E' molto piu' interessante che la cosa sia vista in maniera sincera piuttosto che "per fare i cattivi a tutti i costi". Mettere uno a fianco all'altro questi "mostri" interiori, che alla fine non sono che un piccolo pezzo di se, presente, seppur in modo diverso in ognuno di noi.
Metterli vicini in uno stesso ambiente, proprio perche' cosi' si capisce che non sono niente di cosi' speciale e spaventoso.
Che sono stati riconosciuti, accettati, messi a nudo non tanto per dire "guarda che roba", ma per dire tutti insieme "si, non siamo tutti angeli, non lo e' nessuno, non lo sono nemmeno io.".
Un lungo confronto pubblico e privato, una difficolta' nell'esprimere efficacemente il concetto di "oscuro" un po' alla Guerre Stellari, spesso confuso con "celato".
La nascita di un progetto chiamato "Hidden Side of The Avatar" per poter dar spazio a splendide submission che purtroppo non centravano il tema, ma sono assolutamente stupende, sentite, speciali.
Molti ci hanno detto, "Io un lato oscuro come lo intendete voi non ce l'ho, o forse non l'ho mai trovato".
Altri hanno sostenuto di non saperlo ancora mettere a nudo, rappresentare.
Noi non giudichiamo, anzi.
La mostra stessa ha lo scopo di mettere sul piatto cose che non sarebbe giusto giudicare.
Da piccoli, qualcuno ci avrebbe detto "non si fa".
Da grandi, ce lo diciamo da soli.
