Here I am, sitting inside one of the passenger cars at a steam train. This is really cool. Probably one of the fastest, smoothest trains I've ridden in Second Life. Granted, 11mph (17kmph) isn't anything spectacular, but for an automated ride in Second Life, that's pretty good. Especially since the lead engine is pulling three passenger cars behind it.
The station itself is cool, too. Four trains, but only two lines. They each take turns going through the lines. Yes, that means they're making proper use of switch tracks. And not only can you get inside the passenger cars, but you can get inside the engines, too. You just can't drive the train yourself.
There are two downsides to this place. One, the brakes are the screechiest, ear-splittingness brakes I've ever heard. Two, there isn't really much to see beyond what's in this screencap. It doesn't even leave the sim. Maybe this place is just demoing off the trains to potential buyers. So while this place is neat to visit and check out just how well a train can work in SL, I'd still recommend the trian that passes through Paranthrene over this. That thing runs for miles!
