If you have got your body inked, you need to take extra care for it.
In this post, we are providing an overview of what should be done to keep your tattoo area clean.

Ask your tattoo artist for basic care tips
Well, if you have got your body inked from a reputed tattoo artist, you can expect him to guide you with basic care tips that will help you take care of your tattoo. Follow his instructions carefully.
Note: If you have got your body inked in the past, you might notice that the instructions given by the two tattoo artists are different. Don’t panic. Every tattoo artist will have an opinion that will differ slightly.

Bandage
Your tattoo artist has taken care in cleaning the inked area and has covered it with some dressing or a bandage. Don’t remove this bandage for a couple of hours. It is advisable to leave the bandage as it is for 2 to 4 hours.
Resist your urge to open the bandage and show off your tattoo to your friends. The tattoo artist has applied it for a reason. So, avoid peeling it off for a couple of hours.
Note: While removing it, remove it carefully. Don’t just peel it off. Your skin is delicate. So, take extra care while peeling it off.

Wash the tattoo
Once the bandage is removed, you should gently wash the tattoo with antimicrobial soap and lukewarm water. Use your hands to rub the tattoo area. Make sure that traces of leaked ink or blood are thoroughly removed.
While washing the tattoo, avoid using any sponge or washcloth to clean the tattoo.

Air dry
After washing the tattoo, pat it dry. After that, leave the tattoo uncovered for at least 20 minutes.
Avoid rubbing the tattoo because it can cause irritation.

Ointment
Apply ointment only after the tattoo has dried off fully. Here, you should not apply a thick layer of the ointment. A thin layer should be enough to make your tattoo shine.
An ointment can be bought online too. For those who love to shop online, coupons are available online. Visit www.chameleonjohn.com and make the most of unexpired coupons listed on the site.

Moisturize and wash
Even though your tattoo looks perfect, it is recommended to moisturize and wash the tattoo area at least three times in a day. Continue doing so for a period of 3 to six weeks.

Once your body is inked, it is important to avoid a couple of things.
Some of the points are noted below:

1. Soaking the tattoo is a big NO. So, swimming in the pool or sea should be avoided till your tattoo is fully healed.
2. Direct sunlight can be bad for the tattoo area. So, do not expose it to direct sunlight.
3. Picking or scratching the tattoo can spoil the look and harm you too. Avoid it.
4. Tight-fitting clothes can be painful too. If you can avoid it, it will help you enjoy your time while the tattoo area heals.
